Unfortunately, you cannot play this game in handheld mode. The game strongly uses the movement control of the joycons . There is no button conversion or the like. Since a real handheld mode is missing, the game on devices such as the Switch Lite is usually not playable.
Technically, you can play the game on your Switch Lite if you have additional Joycon pairs. The system can still recognize other devices of this kind and connect with them, but cannot be physically played with the installed ones.
If you are not on a television or monitor that is connected to a dock, you can still play in table mode. Here they docked the switch and preferably held on its stand.
While this could be a disappointment for some, it would eliminate the purpose of the game if they could play without the movement control. This was also the case with some other popular only movement games such as Super Mario Party, Ring Fit Adventure, 1-2 Switch and some others.
Especially when playing online functionality, players who play on a pad with buttons have an enormous advantage over others who use movement controls. The movement control is solid, but this is not comparable to the proven playing styles with buttons that can have more precise and timely input compared to swiveling and turning a controller.
